Looking for a birthday prayer for your daughter? Here are a few that can help.
Getting to celebrate your daughter’s birthday is a special occasion!
As parents, God has entrusted us with an honorable task, to raise women who reflect His glory and who shine His light.
What better way to do this than to pray over the different areas of her life, as she celebrates another year that God has added to her life?
These birthday prayers are a great way to ask God to work in her life, and to bless her for all the days to come.
Birthday Prayer For Daughter
A Prayer Of Thanksgiving On Her Birthday
Psalm 107:1
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.”
There are days when we find it hard to be thankful.
But if there is any day that simply demands thankfulness, it is the birthday of a loved one, especially a daughter.
Your daughter’s birthday is a reminder of the goodness of God. He not only has given her to you as a gift, but He has added another year to her life.
For that we can praise Him! But more than that, we can give thanks because He is good, no matter the time, day, or situation.
His love endures forever, and it is the kind of love that every one of our hearts long for, including your daughter.
Heavenly Father,
I just want to start by saying thank You!
Thank You for blessing my life with my daughter. It is hard to fathom my world without her in it.
And I realize that it is only by Your grace that I get to see her turn a year older.
Another year where I have seen Your faithfulness and kindness. Another year where You have protected her and cared for her.
Another year that You have astonished me, by allowing me to be her parent.
Thank You God for being so good to me.
I ask that my daughter would recognize the goodness of the Lord, and that her heart would sing praises to Your name.
May she know Your love that endures forever. Your love that we can never be separated from.
May she know that the one who made her, loves her with an unending love.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
A Prayer For God To Be Her Shield
Psalm 28:7
“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.”
As parents we have this longing to protect our children for as long as we can.
We want them to know that they can always count on us, and that we will always be there for them.
As beautiful as this is, the truth is that we will not always be able to be there for them.
Not only this, but there is a point in which the best thing we can do for them is to point them to the one who they can truly count on.
The one who is our strength and shield. The one in whom our hearts can trust, because
He will never fail us nor forsake us. Praying for your daughter to trust in God with all her heart, and to turn to Him as her hope, is the best thing you can do for her.
Lord,
I am so thankful that I get to stand by my daughter as she navigates life.
Thank You for granting me another year with her beautiful smile, and even more precious heart.
I admit, as a parent it is hard to let go, and trust that there are better hands than my own in which she is safe.
But the truth is there are better hands. Your hands.
On her birthday, I just want to acknowledge that she is Yours long before You gave her to me.
Though I can not always be strong for her, I know that Your strength never runs out, and Your shield never fails.
I ask that You would lead her to lean on You for strength and hide in You.
May her heart trust in You, and You alone. May she know that her help comes from You.
And may her lips forever sing Your praises.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
A Prayer For God’s Blessing
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you
and keep you;”
“the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;”
“the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace”
The way that we define blessed in the world is different from the way scripture defines blessed.
The world views being blessed as a material or physical term. This often involves material excess, financial “success” and status.
But the blessedness that scripture refers to is not something money can buy. It is something that Jesus died for us to have.
This is not an outward excess, but an internal, or rather a spiritual state of wellbeing.
It is what Jesus spoke in the Beatitudes, in Matthew 5:3-12. It is contentment and filled to the brim kind of joy that cannot be stolen by anything that we face in life.
Whether that be poverty, hardship, tragedy, grief, persecution, etc. We are blessed no matter the circumstances because God is with us, and has satisfied our souls.
Father,
As we celebrate my daughter’s birthday, I ask that You bless her.
Truly bless her. May her treasure not be found in the world’s goods.
In fame, fortune, popularity, and material excess. Instead, may her heart be found in Your court.
May she seek Your will above the world’s agendas. I ask that You bless her with the knowledge and understanding of Your word.
May she be fully satisfied in who You are, and know what true blessedness is.
I ask that You would help her to be content in every situation, not because it is an ideal situation, but because You are with her.
May her heart shine brightly for all to see, and may it be a revelation to others of how good and faithful You are.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
A Prayer For God To Sustain Her All The Days of Her Life
Isaiah 46:4
“Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Whether your daughter has just turned one, she is in her teen’s or in her 30’s.
No matter how old she is, it is a comfort to know that God remains unchanging.
Even as we age, and our children get older, He remains who He is. He remains the same God who will sustain her as a small child, as when she is old and has gray hairs.
Even when we are no longer around, we can ask God to sustain, carry and rescue our daughters all the days of their lives.
Heavenly Father,
Even when we are unfaithful, You remain faithful. My daughter’s life has been a testament to Your faithfulness and kindness.
As we celebrate her birthday, I cannot help but think of the years that lie ahead.
You know each day that lies ahead, and You have numbered every one of our years.
I ask that You would not only sustain my daughter today, but even when she is old, that You will keep her and sustain her.
Please carry her through all the different seasons that she will face in life, and rescue her in times of trouble.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
A Prayer For Her Delight In God
Psalm 37:4-6
“Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
“Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:”
“He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.“
If there is any pursuit that we can pray for in the lives of our daughters, it is that they would delight in the Lord.
Scripture says that if we delight in Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts.
As we delight in Him, He actually changes our hearts, and our desires change with it.
Our desires begin to align with His will. When we delight in God, we delight in His word, and we
delight in doing what pleases Him. And as we delight in Him with our hearts, we also begin to commit our way to Him.
Trusting that He is with us, and for us.
Lord,
I praise You for my daughter’s life!
Thank You for another year where I get to see her grow, and become the person that You have created her to be.
I know that she will face many decisions in her life. But if there is one thing I can ask of You, it is that her delight would be in You.
May she come to taste and see that You are good.
I ask that as she delights in You, that You would change the desires of her hearts, and give her a heart for Your priorities.
I ask that You would fulfill the desires of her heart, and be glorified through her life.
May she commit her way to You, trusting that You will make straight the path before her.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
May your daughter feel truly loved and blessed on this birthday! I hope that you will see the outworking of these prayers in your daughter’s life, as you commit her to the Lord in prayer.
