In need of Prayer for Military? Here are a few you can use.
One of the best ways that we can honor and support the brave men and women who are serving our country with their lives is by praying for them with our lives.
Though we may not be able to see our loved ones who are serving in the military, we can lift them up in prayer to God.
The sacrifices that many of them have made are not easy.
The vigorous training, the long stretches of deployment and separation from the ones they love, the injuries or the dangers that they are in.
Though we may not be able to actively guard them, we can ask God to be a shield, comfort, and guide them through all the circumstances that they face.
Prayer for Military
A Prayer for Protection
Psalm 5:11
“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.”
Lord,
My prayer today is for all the men and women who have committed to serving and protecting our country.
I know it can’t be easy to leave your loved ones behind, and to spend extended time away from them.
Though they can’t be near those who they love, I ask that You would remind them that You are always near.
May they all come to know You, and to seek You as their protector and shield.
May they find in You their hiding place and their fortress, not only in times of physical danger, but in their everyday life.
Please protect them from harm, and keep them safe.
I know it’s not only their physical safety that matters, but their spiritual health.
My prayer is that You would make Yourself known to those who don’t know You. May those who know Christ share Him with those who don’t.
May they know that they have a Father who looks out for them, and a future that is secured.
I pray for those who are dealing with illness or health issues, that they would be able to get sufficient rest and that You would bring them healing and ease their pain.
Keep them safe in Your hands, and guide them with Your eye upon them.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Families of Military
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Heavenly Father,
Today I want to lift up the families and loved ones of every person who is serving in the military.
As they endure separation from their loved ones, I ask that You would bring them comfort.
I think of the spouses who have to spend time away from their husband or wife, and the loneliness and heartache that many of them are experiencing.
My prayer is that you would embrace them with Your love, and bring comfort to their hearts.
Help them to know that You are ever present and that they can find comfort in You.
Protect their marriages, and allow for a time of growth even in the distance.
I pray for those in the military who have children, those who are missing out on important events or moments in their children’s lives.
I ask that You would bring comfort to both them and their children.
Help them to communicate in any available ways, and to stay in touch as much as they’re able to.
Please protect their spouses and children from harm during their absence.
I ask that You would provide for those families, and that others would show kindness and generosity towards them.
Please be with parents whose children are in the military.
Help them to trust You, and to rest in the knowledge of Your sovereignty.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Courage
Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Dear God,
I thank You for those who have chosen to serve our country faithfully. It takes bravery and self-sacrifice, and it is not something that is easy to do.
I think of those who are new and who might feel filled with fear today.
I ask that You would be with them and grant them courage that only comes from You.
I pray for all of those who are enduring training and who are just beginning to learn the ropes. I ask that You strengthen them, and give them endurance.
Help them to challenge themselves, and to push through in difficulty.
Help them to prepare well during training, and to grow in their level of fitness, combat, and courage.
May their courage not stem from faith in self, but may they come to know You and grow in their trust in You.
May they know that the real war is not against flesh and blood, but the spiritual war that surrounds us daily.
Would You grant them the courage to wage that war daily against the enemy and the temptations of this world?
Please clothe them in Your armor, and help them to stand firm, not only in physical combat but in the spiritual battle.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
Pray for Healing
Jeremiah 30:17
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord, because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.”
Lord,
My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been wounded in battle, or who have been injured during training.
I know many of them do not only suffer physical injuries but many are experiencing deep wounds that have cut through their hearts.
I think of those who are dealing with trauma due to what they’ve seen or experienced.
My prayer is that You would extend Your grace to all those in the military who are hurting today in different ways.
I pray for healing for those who have acquired physical injuries.
Please bring full recovery to their bodies, and for those who have been severely injured, I ask that You would heal them and help them to adjust to their new realities.
I also want to pray for those who are hurting deeply, whether it is because of separation from their loved ones, the loss of their fellow soldiers or any private struggles that they are facing.
I ask that You would bring them comfort, and healing. Provide peace to the hearts that are hurting and guidance to those who are seeking answers.
I pray for those who are dealing with mental health issues, those who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts.
I ask that You would bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Please remove any thoughts that are not from you, and implant Your word in their hearts and minds.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
