Whether you’re traveling for leisure, work or you have a commitment to attend to, we all hope for safe travels.
Though traveling can often be an exciting time, it can also cause anxiety.
One of the best ways to find comfort as you hit the road, is to hold onto God’s word as your anchor.
The Bible is filled with reminders and blessings for different areas of our lives.
Many of these scriptures serve as comfort and encouragement to those who are embarking on a new road.
If you have an upcoming trip, and you are looking for bible verses that will give you peace of mind, and security, these scriptures are for you.
Perhaps someone close to you is preparing to take a trip somewhere, and you would like to send them encouraging scripture and well wishes on their journey.
There is no better way than to pray for them and to strengthen and lift them up through God’s word.
We don’t always know what will happen as we journey, but God is not only all-knowing, He is also with you at all times.
Wherever you’re going, I hope that these verses remind you that He goes with you, and is by your side.
Bible Verses For Safe Travels
Deuteronomy 31:8
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Whether you’re traveling by yourself or you’re accompanied by others, there is always an unknown that lies ahead.
Especially if you are going to a place you’ve never been to, you have very little knowledge of what exactly you will find once you get there, or as you make your way there.
This is both exciting, for those who love adventure but at the same time, it can be daunting or intimidating.
That is why it is comforting to know that wherever you go, God has already been there, and He is with you as you make your way.
No matter where you are going, He accompanies you.
There is no place where He cannot go with You, and that is something that you can find comfort in whether you are traveling alone or with someone.
Psalm 121:7-8
“The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.”
Being on the road, on a plane, or even on a boat in the middle of the ocean, all come with their own safety concerns.
One of the reasons we often pray before our travels are to ask God to keep us safe from harm, and allow us to journey safely to our destination.
This is a verse that we can pray over our own travels, or encourage others who are about to go on a trip.
It serves as a reminder that God is the one who we can turn to, to keep us from harm. Even as we travel, and as we come and go, He watches over us.
As you prepare to travel, I hope that this verse gives you comfort and peace, knowing that He is looking after you.
Psalm 139:9-10
“If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.”
No matter where we find ourselves, we cannot escape God’s presence.
This is a beautiful reminder, especially at times when we are anticipating a long journey somewhere.
Just like the Psalmist couldn’t hide from God’s presence, we can be assured that He is with us wherever we go.
This is a comfort and security that we can hold onto as we go on an unknown journey.
As you keep this truth in mind, I hope that you will find His leading and His protection through your travels.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turns his face toward you
and give you peace.”
This is such a beautiful encouragement to send to someone who is about to travel somewhere.
If you know of someone who is preparing for a vacation, or a business trip, whatever their reason for travel may be.
This is the perfect verse to send their way. It is also a scripture that you can find comfort in if you are planning on traveling.
It serves as a blessing and prayer, that God may keep you, and be gracious to you.
My prayer is that He will be with you as you travel, and give you peace on your journey.
Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Sometimes traveling can cause a lot of fear and anxiety. You may be afraid of driving for long stretches of time.
Perhaps you are fearing that something may go wrong during your travels. Whatever is causing you to be afraid, the Lord wants to give you peace.
I love how this scripture is not a suggestion, but rather it is a command. He has commanded us to be strong and courageous.
Why is that? It is not because we have the assurance that everything will turn out well.
But it is because we know without a doubt, that no matter where we go, He is with us.
Therefore, we do not have to be afraid or dismayed. This is a beautiful reminder and challenge that we can hold onto during times of travel.
Isaiah 26:3-4
“You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
If there is anything that we desire our travels to be filled with, it is peace.
As you prepare to go on the road, you may feel yourself become anxious or troubled.
When we are filled with anxiety, it is hard to truly be present and to keep our minds straight.
God calls us to give up our anxiety to Him, and that includes anxiety about your travels.
Though we may be physically prepared, it is only God who can give us true peace, both in mind and heart.
As we come to Him before, and during our travels, we have the opportunity to lean on Him.
My encouragement to you is to trust Him, and to lean on Him as your rock. He will give you true peace.
I hope that these scriptures will be a blessing to you as you journey. Though journey may be filled with unknowns, and different ups and downs.
Be reminded that God is faithful and He cares for you. Wherever you find yourself, remember that He is right there with you.
All you have to do is ask Him to guard your path and to go before you as you travel.
