Biblical I Am Affirmations
I Am Made New In Christ
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
We can’t possibly start with any other truth than this one. You are a new creation in Jesus.
What glorious news!
Our identity as new creations in Christ is the foundation for every other truth that He has spoken over us.
A new creation means that Jesus has washed away the old, our past, the places where we used to find our identity, and has completely clothed us in newness.
What’s even more beautiful is that this newness leads us to both discover and walk in our identity in Christ.
When your past tries to pull you, or fight against God’s truth of who you are, remind yourself that Jesus has made you brand new!
I Am Chosen
1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
Deuteronomy 14:2
“…for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.”
Ephesians 1:3-4
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.”
1 Thessalonians 1:4
“For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you..”
How many of us have felt left out before?
Perhaps you didn’t get chosen for a team, or a friendship or relationship that you hoped would last fell through.
Whatever the situation, most of us have felt the pain of feeling left out, overlooked, or last to be chosen.
Though those situations no less hurt, we have the greatest consolation from God, the Maker of all things.
He chooses you! He chose you way before you even knew His name. He chose you on purpose and for a purpose.
If you ever feel last in line, remember, God has chosen you. You can hold this truth close to you every single day.
I Am Forgiven
Ephesians 1:7
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
Psalms 103:11-12
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
Colossians 1:13-14
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Isn’t it such a relief to know that someone you have hurt has forgiven you?
Truly forgiven you.
There is no greater offensive that we can commit than sin. This is because sin is ultimately an offense toward God.
We don’t simply sin against others or ourselves, we sin against God.
That is why this is such an absolute pleasure for us to experience.
The undeserving forgiveness of God.
It is a truth that allows us to grow out of places of hurt and to not only learn to accept forgiveness for our faults but learn to extend that same forgiveness to others.
Whenever those thoughts of condemnation (instead of conviction – which comes from the Lord) come up, it is a perfect opportunity to remind yourself of the truth that God has forgiven you.
I Am Blessed
Ephesians 1:3
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
When we think of the term blessed, it can be easy to confuse it with the world’s term of “blessed”.
That definition usually portrays that every area in your life is in tip-top shape, that you are financially secured, in a blooming relationship, and so forth.
The only issue is the blessedness scripture refers to is way more than material welfare, it is something rooted inside of you.
Even without any material possessions, you are blessed because you are in Christ.
I Am Pure
1 Peter 1:22
“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.”
We all have a past, one that may have tainted our own view of ourselves and the way others have viewed us.
Whatever your past may look like, Jesus has done a wonderful work in you. He has made you pure.
God has made you holy.
It is not something we achieve in and of ourselves. It is a truth that is rooted in our identity in Christ.
This is something you can rejoice in daily, especially when shame from your past tries to invade your mind.
I Am Not Alone
Isaiah 43:2
“When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.”
You’ve probably had instances in your life where you have felt alone.
Trust us, you’re not alone in feeling alone.
Whether people let you down, or you felt lonely even surrounded by people.
One truth remains the same – you are NOT alone.
The Lord is with you, whether you find yourself on a mountain top or a valley.
His word says that He is with you, right there next to you, available for you to reach out to Him.
Whenever those feelings of loneliness creep in, remind yourself that you have Someone who will always be in your corner.
I Am Accepted
Romans 15:7
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”
Everyone wants to be loved and accepted.
There is so much room for growth when we know that we are accepted, that we are welcomed.
God has welcomed you.
Do you know that? Do you believe that?
If you struggle with feeling accepted, reminding yourself of this truth and memorizing this scripture will be a great help.
I Have A Future
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The future may sometimes seem scary, but you can rest assured in the fact that the God you serve holds it securely in His hands.
In Him, you have a future. One filled with hope.
This life may not always seem hopeful, and you may have suffered many things in your time here.
But you can hold onto the truth that God’s plans for you here and in eternity are for your ultimate good.
Trust Him with your today and with your tomorrow.
I Am Wonderfully Made
Psalm 139:14
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
You were made with wonder.
Every part of you God designed on purpose, even the parts that you dislike about yourself.
When He looks at you He sees in you a wonderfully and fearfully made person.
Since the creation of the world, God’s handiwork was good, and you, my friend are one of them.
Remember that whenever you feel any other way about yourself.
I Am A Conqueror
Romans 8:37
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
Being on “Team Jesus” as opposed to being on the side of the world means that we are victorious in Christ.
This is because Jesus has already overcome the world.
What’s more, is that scripture doesn’t only refer to us as conquerors but as “more than conquerors.”
In Christ, we are overwhelmingly victorious.
This world is only temporary, and so are its battles. But the work of Jesus on the cross has defeated sin, and we will someday walk in that fullness.
