Prayers For Anxiety

Looking for Prayers for Anxiety? Here are a few that can help.

There is no denying that we live in a fear and anxiety-ridden world.

If it isn’t our everyday needs that cause anxiety, it is our social interactions, our responsibilities, the people we work with, or live with, and the thoughts that we struggle with.

text reads "prayers for anxiety".

There is always a supply of anxiety from every area of life that is ready to overwhelm you, and to steal away any peace that you could be experiencing.

We know that worry is something that scripture talks about, and we can identify with many people in the Bible who dealt with worries and anxiety.

The world has its own remedies to deal with anxiety, but scripture tells us what we ought to do when those sneaky feelings and thoughts take over our minds – pray.

Philippians 4:6 not only instructs us, but comforts us, saying, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Wouldn’t you love not being anxious? It sounds like there’s a way that we can deal with our anxiety that simply requires our time, and that is through dedicated prayer to God.

We see there are two parts to the equation, it is not that we simply stop being anxious on command.

Rather, it is that we take that anxiety that we are experiencing and we turn to God in prayer.

We take those thoughts, those concerns, those worries and fears and we come before God in humble prayer, asking that He lift those burdens from our hearts, grant us His peace, and help us to trust Him for our needs.

What I love about this verse is that it says, “but in everything..” In everything, there isn’t a concern that is too small or too big that you can’t bring to God in prayer.

If you’re having anxiety about anything at all, God invites you to bring it to Him in prayer, with a grateful heart.

If you struggle with anxiety and you need some guidance on how to pray in those moments, here are a few prayers to help you out!

Prayer for God’s Peace To Reign In Your Life

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Heavenly Father,

Today my heart is in need of Your peace.

There are so many things that plague my mind from the moment I wake up to the moment I lay my head down to rest at night.

Even when I am meant to rest, there is this gnawing at the back of my mind that simply won’t settle down.

I know that these thoughts are taking a toll on me, and if I let it, it will continue to rule my life.

Your word says that You are the Prince of Peace.

I won’t find peace in the world, because the peace that the world gives is defective.

You have left me with peace, You have given me Your peace.

Not as the world gives, but peace that truly settles my heart.

Peace that surpasses all understanding, and brings my thoughts to rest.

I ask that You remove any troubles that are filling up my heart and mind.

Please remove the fear that keeps me trapped and paralyzed from moving forward.

May your peace reign in my heart, and spill over into the rest of my life.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Prayer To Remind You That He Knows What You Need

Matthew 6:25

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”

Lord,

I am so grateful that I can turn to You at any moment of the day.

I know I need to get better at running towards You rather than from You when I am struggling with anxious thoughts.

You already know the things that are on my mind, and the struggles that I face.

Help me to remember that there is nothing that is too small for me to bring to You.

Today You know the concerns that are on my heart.

You know what I am anxious about, the guidance that I am needing, and the needs that I have for the day.

Sometimes it can feel as though those things are all mine to bear, but Your word reminds me that You not only know what I need, but that You provide it.

My prayer is that You would help me to trust in Your care for me.

Remind me that this is more than the daily concerns that I have, and if You are God of the big plans and needs, surely You are the same God who sees me each day.

Please help me to fix my eyes not on the things that are seen, but those that are unseen.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer for God’s Comfort During Anxiety

Psalm 94:19

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”

Father,

Thank You for being there for me when I need You most.

I know that my need for You is not only daily, or hourly, but that it is every second of every day.

When my thoughts wander off, and I begin to think of life, of the world, of my responsibilities and the expectations of the world, and life in general, I feel absolutely overcome with fear and anxiety.

The more I ponder on those things, the more consumed my mind feels, and the less peace and joy I experience.

I know that it is no way to live, and that it robs me of the joy that comes from trusting in You.

Please forgive me for turning to other methods to ease my mind, when all I truly need is to surrender it all to You.

Please help me to find comfort and consolation through Your word, and hold fast to the promise that You are with me, and that You care for me.

I ask that You would fill me with Your joy.

May Your joy be my strength even in the most stressful circumstances.

Remind me that nothing is too big for You to undertake, and that Your comfort is only one prayer away.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
