Prayers For Youth

Looking for prayers for youth? The youth of today is the future of tomorrow. That is why it is so vital to not only be involved in the lives of our youth, but to actively pray for them.

When we are young, we are easily moldable and impressionable. When the youth of our day are encouraged and lovingly guided in prayer, we ask God to guard them from the enticing lure of the world, and its empty treasures.

text reads "prayers for youth".

There are many ways that may seem right to young people. In fact, there are many voices that will try to lead them down one path or another. Yet, scripture tells us that the way a young person can keep his path pure is by living according to God’s word.

God’s word is a light to our path, and if there’s anything that young people need, it is guidance as they engage in the world around them.

By praying over our youth, we build confidence that God will use them to be a light in a dark world.

The youth of today could use our prayers in many ways.

They could use prayer for protection, to guard their hearts, to live for Christ, and many more things.

How To Pray For Our Youth

Here are a few ways in which you can pray for our youth, and bless them in private.

A Prayer For The Salvation of Youth

“Father,

Thank You for the gift of salvation. Thank You, Lord, that it is not something that we have to work for, but that You freely give to those who put their trust in You.

I pray that You will show Your grace to the youth of today. Please help them not to succumb to the pressures of this world.

Help them to see that this world is passing away, and so is its lust and passions.

Please open the eyes of their hearts to see You clearly.

I pray that You would grant them the knowledge of You and of their sin.

May they feel sincere remorse over their sins and grab ahold of Your salvation with both hands.

Please lead them to Christ and save them from themselves and a world that lies in wait for them.

May they live in the assurance of an eternity with You, and serve You here on earth.

In Jesus’ name, amen.”

A Prayer For Youth To Lead

“Lord,

Thank You for sending Jesus to show us the way.

He came to earth for our benefit, and lived the life that we weren’t meant to live.

Thank You for the example that He has set for us.

So many young people are prone to becoming followers instead of leaders.

They feel overwhelmed by peer-pressure, and the need to fit in and be accepted by their peers. But a lot of that is often to their own detriment.

Please give our youth the courage to stand up for what is right.

Help them to become leaders who show others the way to go.

I pray that You would lead not only them but those who they influence on the way of life.

Please refine them, and shape them to look more and more like Christ.

I pray that their light would not be extinguished by the world and its trends, but would shine brightly despite opposition.

May they lead many youths out of the grasp of the enemy, and the obsession of the world, and the things of the world.

May their focus be on You, and the things of Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.”

A Prayer for Purity

“Dear God,

You have brought us close who were once far off. Thank You for making us new, and seeing us in the light of what Christ has done.

I pray for the youth of today, that they would reject the degenerate and sensual state of the world, and pursue purity.

I pray that they would first and foremost seek purity of mind.

I pray that they would not submit themselves to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of their minds.

My prayer is that they would set their minds on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.

Let them think about such things.

I pray that they will guard their hearts, and keep it in pure conscience towards You, Lord.

May the purity of their hearts flow into every word, thought, and deed in their lives.

In Jesus’ name, amen.”

A Prayer for Wisdom

“Father in Heaven,

There is none like You. You are all wise and all knowing.

Like a father who seeks to guide and protect us. You have set Your instructions before us as a guide to navigate life.

May the youth of today come to know You personally through Your word.

I pray that they will cherish Your word and live by it.

Please teach them through Your word and give them wisdom.

When they are unsure what to do, or how to respond, I pray that they will seek You out in prayer.

I pray that You will guide them in Your wisdom and knowledge.

May they become wise as doves.

I pray that Your word will become a light to their feet, and a lamp to their path.

Please help them to be able to discern the friendships that they get into, the things that they value, and how they live their lives through Your word. In Jesus’ matchless name, amen.”

A Prayer for Teachability

“Loving Father,

Thank You for Your patience and kindness with us.

Though we sin, and fall short, Your tender mercies are new each day.

My prayer is that You would open the eyes of our youth to see the goodness of the Lord.

I pray that they will come to You in humility and submit themselves to Your will.

Lord, I pray that You will give them a teachable spirit.

Keep them from leaning on their own understanding, but instead trust in You, knowing that You will make straight their paths.

I pray that they will desire Your word and grow in both grace and truth.

May their lives become a witness to the work that You are doing in their hearts through Your word.

Please teach them through the different circumstances that they are facing, and remind them that the tests they face are not in vain.

May their faith be strengthened, and their wisdom increase as they trust in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Remembering to pray for the youth of today is an important task that the whole church should joyfully undertake and partake in.

As we pray for the youth, we ultimately pray for those who will carry the banner of the Kingdom forward.
