Healing Prayer Points Based on Scripture

1. A prayer for strength when your body fails you

Psalm 73:26

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Lord, I am only human. As much as I desire to be at my full capacity, You’ve shown me that my flesh will fail at times.

It is a humbling realization that only draws me closer to You.

Even though my flesh fails me, Lord, You never do.

Thank You for the grace that You show me in my weakness and the strength that You give me in my weariness.

When my body gives way, would You be my strength and my portion above all things.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

2. A prayer to call out to God in the midst of suffering

Psalm 30:2

“LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.”

Father, so often I turn to other places for the help that I need when You are right there in front of me.

Please, help me to turn to You in my times of pain and despair.

Your word says that You hear me when I call to You, Lord and that You will not turn away a contrite heart that is open before You.

Lord, hear the cry of my heart and attend to my voice.

Heal me, Lord from my illness and restore me back to health.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

3. A prayer for God to restore you back to health

Jeremiah 30:17

“‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD…”

God, You are a compassionate Father.

You look on Your people with a desire to heal our stripes and bandage our wounds.

You have shown Your faithful love to those who follow You all throughout scripture.

What You say, You will do, Lord.

Today my health is in need of the healing power of Your hands, Lord. You know the wounds that I have been afflicted with and the suffering it has caused me.

If it is Your will, Father, would You restore my health fully and heal these hurting wounds.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

4. A prayer for renewed strength when you are weary

Isaiah 40:29,31

“He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength…Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Lord, my heart feels weary with the weight of my health problems.

At times I feel alone, as though I have to carry it on my own, and I admit that I can’t do it by myself.

I need Your strength to lift me when I fall, and to uphold me when I feel faint.

Just like an eagle who soars high into the sky, would You give me new strength, Lord.

Let Your strength be made perfect and evident in my weakness.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

5. A prayer to receive God’s comfort in affliction

Psalm 119:50

“This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.”

Father, so many days I wake up feeling discouraged by the state of my health. When my affiliation rises the urge to hide away in fear and isolate follows after me.

But You, Lord, are my comfort in my affliction. You are a hiding place in my hurting and a shield in my suffering.

Though my body fails me, Lord, Your promise of life is a steadfast anchor in the midst of my storm. Let me know Your comfort through all my days.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

6. A prayer for the health of your body and soul

3 John 1:2

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”

Heavenly Father, You have shown me that there is a reality beyond this physical world that I see.

It can be so easy to focus on my body when many times it is my soul that is aching.

You know the condition of my heart and of my hurt today, both in body and in soul.

Even when my body is weak, Lord, would You make it well with my soul.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

7. A prayer for the hurting and brokenhearted

Psalm 147:3

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Lord, my heart is hurting in a million different places.

I don’t always understand why things happen the way that they do, but I know that I can cling to You because You are trustworthy.

Help me, Lord, to give You each piece of my heart that You might mend it in a way that only You can.

Would You bind up the wounded parts of my heart, and make it whole again.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

8. A prayer for our dependence on God

Isaiah 33:2

“LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.”

God, I repent for the times that I have relied on my own strength to carry me through.

I know that You are gracious and that I desperately need You.

Where I have built other sources to trust in, would You refocus my eyes on You. Stir in me a longing for You like never before.

Remind me of Your new mercies every day that I wake up and be my strength in the days that lie ahead.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

9. A prayer for unity with the body of Christ

James 5:16

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Lord Jesus, though You died for every one of us, You have ultimately died for Your church.

It is Your church that You are building and I get to be a part of that. Help me Lord not to be the cause for disunity with those around me. Where I am at fault, lead me to confession.

In our unity there You bring healing, as we pray for one another.

Heal not only me, Lord but those around me who are in need of Your healing hand.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

10. A prayer to experience Christ’s healing power

 Matthew 9:35

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.”

Lord, it is such a privilege that we get to see You live through the pages of scripture.

You preached the good news that has not only given me life for the present but an even greater hope for the future. An eternal hope that is void of the brokenness that sin has caused.

I see the way You healed those You came in contact with, and I pray, Lord that I might experience Your healing myself.

For You are the same God, yesterday, today, and forever.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

You can even pray for your sick dog.
