We all look forward to Friday because it’s not only the end of a busy week of work or school, it is also the beginning of a weekend of rest.

There’s no better way to start the weekday than to pray for God’s guidance and strength to carry you through the day.

Prayer to Start Your Friday Morning 

Lamentations 3:22-23 

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the blessing of a new day. The fact that I get to see you another day is a reminder of Your kindness toward me.

I praise You for Your love that never fails and for Your mercies that find me each new day.

I don’t know how I would get through the week if it weren’t for Your faithfulness. 

As I start my day, I ask that Your faithfulness and love would continue to follow me and surround me throughout this day.

Thank You for carrying me through this week, and being with me each and every day. I am grateful that it’s Friday, and that the week is slowing down. 

As I get started with the day, I ask that You would fill me with Your Spirit and help me to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit.

Please help me to look to You for guidance and support as the day progresses.

Please bring Your calming presence into any situation that is stressful, and help me to remain self-controlled and at peace.

Remind me that each day is a new opportunity to be Your witness to those around me, and to do all things for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. 

Prayer for a Restful Weekend 

Matthew 11:28 

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Lord,

I feel so weary and worn out today. This week has taken a lot out of me, and I am looking forward to the weekend ahead.

I am grateful for Your strength that has held me up during this week, and for how You have provided and cared for me.

Your word says that those who are weary and heavily burdened can come to You, and You will give them rest. 

Today, I am in need of that rest Lord. Please help me to make it through this day, to be diligent, and to rely on Your strength.

Though I am weary, I ask that You would help me to do what is required of me, and to do it as though I am doing it for You and not for me.

Help me to remember the rest that lies ahead after the day’s work is done. 

My prayer is that You would prepare my heart and mind for a restful weekend.

Please help me to set aside those things that worry me, and those which weigh heavy on my shoulders.

Help me simply take some time to sit quietly in Your presence and find the rest that my soul so desperately needs.

Please prepare my home, so that it may be a quiet place where I can rest and recharge.

In Jesus’ name, amen. 

Prayer for Protection 

Deuteronomy 31:6 

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Dear God,

Thank You for keeping me safe through the night.

Thank You for protecting me, and being with me, not only when I wake, but also when I lay my head down.

As the day begins, I ask that You be by my side. Please go with me, and walk with me through the day.

I ask that You protect me from any physical harm, and help me to be vigilant and attentive when I leave the house.

Please keep me safe as I travel and bring me home safely. 

I ask that You protect my heart and mind from the distractions of the world, and from its temptations.

Help me to keep my heart guarded, and my mind rooted in Your word.

Please help me to fight off any thoughts that are not pleasing to You, and to bring them under submission to Christ. 

I ask that You would help me to be transformed by Your word instead of conformed to the patterns of the world.

Please help me to be aware of the spiritual battle that is taking place around me. Help me to stand firm, and to be equipped in the armor of God.

Remind me that the fight is not against flesh and blood but that it is spiritual and can only be fought with Your word.

Prayer to End Out Week Well

Isaiah 40:29

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

Lord,

Just as the work week is coming to an end, I feel myself coming to a stopping point. It has been a tiring week, and it isn’t quite over yet.

Though I wish I could just crawl back into bed, or forget about all the things that I need to do, I know that isn’t possible. 

That is why I am asking for Your strength to push me through this day.

I don’t have my own strength to count on, but I know that Your strength is greater than my own and always there for me to lean on.

When I become discouraged, please remind me that You are with me and that You honor those things that are done with the right heart and attitude.

Please keep me from grumbling and murmuring today.

Help me to do everything without complaint, knowing that my reward is found in You.

I ask that You would help me to remain sharp in my focus, sober in my thinking, and diligent in my work.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. 

Prayer for Patience in Affliction 

Romans 12:12

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Father,

I have had a really hard time. You know the burden that I am carrying today, and how much it has drained me of my energy, joy, and hope.

All I can think of is how I want it to be over, how I want to get out of this situation, and see the other end of it. 

But I know that Your word says we will face trials and afflictions while we’re on earth.

Sometimes I forget that trials can be a reminder of the hope that I have in Christ, and a tool for You to refine my character and test my faith. 

I admit, my faith has certainly been tested, and my hope is that it will stand firm through the fire.

Please help me to seek Your grace through this time. Renew my hope, and revive my joy.

Help me to remain patient in my affliction and faithful in prayer.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
