Prayer for Thursday

Prayer for God’s Guidance

Isaiah 58:11

“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Lord,

It’s a new day, and just like every day before it, I realize that I am in need of Your guidance and wisdom today.

You know the decisions and situations that weigh on my mind more than anyone else.

You know the conflicting thoughts that I am having, and the uncertainty and fear that I am experiencing.

My prayer is that You would please help me fix my eyes on You.

I ask that You would bring my restless heart to a place of peace, and comfort me in my fears.

Please light up the path before me, and show me the way that I should go.

If something is not from You, I ask that You would convict me of it and close that door. As I walk through this day, I ask that You walk with me.

May Your word be a light to my feet and a lamp to my path. Help me trust You when things don’t make sense or the path forward seems unclear.

Remind me of Your faithfulness and grow my faith beyond what eyes can see.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Prayer for Your Daily Cares

1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Father,

Thank You so much for being a personal God.

Thank You for not only being a part of our salvation and eternity, but for being in the small everyday details of our lives.

Thank You Lord for caring about the things that weigh on my heart and the cares of my day.

I ask that You would help me to find rest in the fact that You are always with me, and that You have promised to never leave me or forsake me.

Today, I want to bring all of my worries and cares before You, because I know that You care for me.

That is something that I find so hard to fathom sometimes, that You would care for a sinner like me.

Yet, I am eternally grateful for Your love and grace toward me. I ask that You would please bless me with my daily needs.

You know the responsibilities that I have, the things that I am worrying about and the needs that I have.

I ask that You would please provide for me in those areas, and help me to be a blessing to others in need as You bless me.

Help me to remember that You feed the birds and dress the lilies in the field, who are here today and gone tomorrow, and that You will look after me because I am worth more than any of those to You.

In all circumstances, I ask that You would help me to turn to You, rely on You and trust in You.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer To Do All Things For God’s Glory

1 Corinthians 10:31

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Precious Savior,

I don’t know how I can begin to thank You for all that You are and have done for me.

Thank You so much for adopting me as Your own, even while I was a sinner who refused You and loved my sin more than You.

Thank You for shining Your truth in my heart, and for moving me from the kingdom of darkness into Your glorious light.

In view of all that You have done for me, and all that You are, I ask that You would help me to seek Your Kingdom above all else.

In whatever situation I am in and wherever You have placed me, I ask that You would help me to do all things for Your glory.

Remind me that I am not working for human masters, but that I am living for an audience of one.

May this overflow into how I treat others and in how I serve them.

Remind me that it is not dependent on them, but that the love, forgiveness and grace that I can extend to them is a result of the love, forgiveness and grace that You’ve given me.

Please help me to live for Your glory every day, and to allow that to change my heart, mind, words and actions.

May others see You in me and bring You glory.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

A Prayer of Praise

Isaiah 25:1

“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”

Lord,

You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. There is no one who deserves our affection and our praise more than You.

Yet so often we turn to other idols and lesser loves than to the one whom our soul loves and longs for most.

Please for me for putting other things above You, and making an idol of things that were never meant to act as my god.

Help me to grow in the knowledge of Your word and have a clearer view of who You are.

Today I don’t want to ask for anything, but I simply want to bring You praise and honor. Thank You so much for Your love that endures forever.

Thank You for sending Your only begotten Son into the world, and for allowing us to be reconciled to You.

There is no wisdom, understanding, power, glory, or beauty that compares to You.

Like David, my one desire is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze in Your beauty and to seek You in Your temple.

Thank You for the glorious gift of grace, and the honor to know You not only as my God, but as my Father and my dearest Friend.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

A Prayer for Encouragement

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Father,

We live in a world that is often trying to discourage, and that comes with a lot of tribulation and trials.

I realize that we live in a fallen world and that we are sinful people in need of Your grace.

I am grateful that You have shined Your light of grace into my life and have opened my eyes to see You.

Though I am not of this world, being in this world brings daily struggles.

Sometimes I feel absolutely defeated, and like there is no hope at the end of the road.

At other times my sin tries to reel me into old habits, and when I fall for it, I feel guilt and shame.

Some days are so hard, and it feels impossible to lift up my head. Your word says that Jesus has already overcome the world.

Because I am in Christ, I am on the winning team, despite what I face in this short time on earth.

Though I cannot avoid trials and tribulations, I know that I am not walking through them on my own.

Please remind me that every day. Please be the lifter of my head, and place Your hope in my heart.

Help me to be encouraged and not to lose heart.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
