Prayer For Monday

In need of Prayer for Monday? Here are a few you can use.

When it comes to Mondays, most of us have a growing dislike towards the day.

For many, it represents a new start to the work week, school week, or just the disruption of some needed time off on the weekend.

Though Monday’s can feel like something to dread, as Christians, it is helpful to remember that Monday’s just like any day is a day that the Lord has made, and therefore, we can certainly find reasons to rejoice in it!

One of the ways we can change our approach towards the dreaded start of the week, is by asking God to give us strength for the day, and equip us with what we need through prayer.

Prayer for Monday

Prayer for Strength

Psalm 59:16

“But I will sing of your strengt, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”

Dear Lord,

Today I am weary and in need of Your strength in my weakness.

I realize there are many days where I forget to lean on Your strength, and try to do things in my own strength and wisdom.

I ask that You would forgive me for those days when I prioritize other things or forget how much I need You.

I am grateful for another week that You have carried me through.

As I prepare myself for the day ahead, I ask that You would empower me with Your strength.

Please help me not to get discouraged, but to find hope and courage through Your word.

When I feel weary, I ask that You would lift up my head, and grant me the energy to complete the tasks before me.

May the song in my heart be one that sings of Your strength and love.

And may I remember to turn to You as my fortress and refuge throughout the day.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

 Prayer for Focus

Colossians 3:2

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Father in Heaven,

Thank You so much for Your kindness towards me each day.

I can’t help but think of how gracious You are to me, and that I get to live each day with a hope that stretches far beyond my life here on earth.

It can be particularly easy to get caught up in the rush of the day, the disappointments, the deadlines, and everything in between.

But I am thankful to know that You are with me through every part of it.

As I get ready for a new day, I ask that You would help me to have a mind set on the things above.

Help me to remember to cherish the small moments, and to remain patient and hopeful in hard times, knowing that it is only temporary.

Please help me to fix my eyes on the things that You have set before me today, and to do them with diligence, knowing that all I do is for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer for Anxiety

Philippians 4:6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Gracious God,

There are so many things that plague my mind today.

I think of all the things that need to be done, the deadlines, expectations, my responsibilities, and the future that lies ahead.

It can all feel so overwhelming and frightful. Your word says that I do not have to be anxious about anything.

Sometimes that feels hard to truly believe or to apply to my daily life.

In my own strength, I can’t produce peace, but through the power of Your Holy Spirit, I know that peace is available to me.

I ask that You would fill me with Your Spirit, and help me to grow in the fruit of the Spirit, especially peace.

Please help me to lay down my burdens and worries before You, knowing that each day has its own troubles, and that You will walk through each day with me.

Remind me to trade my anxious thoughts with active prayer.

You know what I need, and the things that weigh on my mind, I ask that You would give me guidance and provide in the ways that You see fit.

In Jesus’ name, I pray with thanksgiving, amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving for a New Week

1 Chronicles 16:34

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of a new week.

I know sometimes a new week can feel as though it is dreadful, and it is much easier to feel anxious than it is to remember that it is a gift to be grateful for.

But today I just want to lift up praise and thanksgiving to You.

Thank You for the grace that You give me each day. Thank You for Your mercies that are new every morning.

I don’t know where I would be if it weren’t for Your love, and grace working powerfully in my life.

Today I’m reminded of all the times that You have led me, loved me, carried me, strengthened and forgiven me.

Thank You for Your goodness and Your enduring love.

As I go through this day, I ask that You would remind me of all the things that I can be grateful for.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Prayer Before Work

Colossians 3:23-24

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Lord,

I am grateful for a new day, and the opportunity to serve You and serve others as You call me to do.

It can be easy to get caught up in work, and forget that You have also called me to show Christ to those around me.

As I get ready for work, and do the work that is before me, I ask that You would help me to do it with discipline, and diligence.

Please help me to not grumble, but rather, to remember that having a job is a gift that many are hoping to find.

Help me to work with intention, knowing that I am working for You and not for human masters.

Even in the mundane tasks that lie ahead, help me to do it to the best of my ability, not to impress man but to honor You with the quality of my work.

Help me to represent You at work, and to be a light to those around me, in speech and in deed.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
